Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5th, southern Lebanon will welcome the Turkey Hospital, a new center specialized in the treatment of burns, particularly those caused by white phosphorus, as well as in repair surgeries for war-injured individuals.

This hospital, located within the Sidon hospital complex, will open its doors with the aim of caring for victims of the recent conflicts in the region.

With hallways nearly empty and medical staff finalizing details, the hospital is prepared to receive its first patients. “The Turkey Hospital specializes in emergencies, war injuries, and burns. Tomorrow we will officially open to start receiving emergency cases that require trauma treatment and burn treatment, especially those caused by phosphorus,” stated Mona Mustafa Teryaki, the general director of the new hospital.

The new hospital also has a specific wing for outpatient burn treatment. “If someone is affected by burns, they can come here to the hospital, receive the necessary medical attention, and then go home,” explained Teryaki. For those requiring hospitalization, the center is equipped with four additional beds.

The opening of the Turkey Hospital responds to an urgent need, as, according to the Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, eight hospitals in the region have been completely rendered out of service due to recent bombings. With this new center, it is expected to improve medical care for those who have suffered the devastating consequences of the conflict.

This effort reflects the commitment of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health to provide timely and specialized care to a population severely affected by violence and armed attacks. The inauguration of the Turkey Hospital is a significant step towards recovery and well-being for those who need it most in southern Lebanon.
